NB: We would like to draw your attention to the evaluation in the Evaluation section. This recording sheet may be used at this early stage and subsequently at intervals, throughout the year to measure awareness and learning, as a result of the activities carried out.

This first series of lessons based around the theme of "Uniqueness" will provide you with starting points for the exploration of intercultural issues.

Each series of lessons will address these aims:

• to encourage students to appreciate how they themselves are different contributing to a climate of respect for the differences present within the class;

• to prepare students for living in an intercultural society.

Each activity will have identifiable objectives,
associated materials and tasks and will provide the students with the opportunity to upload their individual or collective responses to the website www.niclr.com NetConnect It is worth noting that some of this material is designed to Use the differences as a basis for further exploration and discussion. At this early stage there may be some reference to stereotyping and whilst drawing out specific stereotypes may help to establish the depth
of misinformation it is imperative that these stereotypes are not reinforced and that the negative or clichéd images are countered.
